Middlewich Ensuite Renovation
This was a clear example of why it is necessary to tank showers. Our client contacted us because the original shower was covered in mould and kept on coming back regardless of mould killing spray. The problem was that water had penetrated the original grout and damaged the plasterboard underneath.
Most of the plasterboard had disintegrated due to the damage. New plasterboard was installed and the shower was tanked using a butech tanking membrane. A new low profile shower tray was installed. The shower area was then re-tiled and a new shower door fitted. The client also wanted storage in the ensuite so fitted units were installed together with a wash basin and WC. A new towel radiator was fitted and the floor was tiled. Because the original floor was chipboard, aqua board was fitted prior to tiling.
